From time to time I become addicted to something. Right now that's True Blood (and Alexander Skarsgård). Since buying the blu-rays to "catch up" before Season 5 started I haven't gotten much sleep.

And now thanks to the magic of tumblr I have this fascination with Tom Hiddleston. Like I needed more stuff to be obsessed with!

I can, and do, say a lot of slightly odd things. Aussie slang sometimes used. Enjoy.

This is absolutely, positively one of my favorite scenes. The sexual tension between them is intense.

This scene is really so good. I think it really throws him that she sees who Godric is to him, and sees that he loves. He’s got a carefully cultivated facade, but Sookie sees through him, and it makes him very uncomfortable. Already, he wants her, and the persistence of his desire for her surprises him, and now she’s gotten under his skin in a real way — seen something real about him, something even Pam doesn’t know. He wants a bit of his own back, and to reclaim a bit of his mystery and power, he leans in like this and treats her like a lover by coming too close, breathing her in, and asking her to trust him in an intimate whisper.

I love her stillness here — it’s like she’s not only listening to him, but to her own response to him. Listening to whatever told her that there’s something more to him than all the swagger. Something that deserves her faith.

Love.

Same room, same wallpaper, same coffee table, same piano, same open doors to the same craft room with the same table covered in the same blue tablecloth, same wingback chair in the back, same hoof lamp on the same mirrored bureau, all positioned around the same Sookie, with the same hairstyle, same headband, same blue-flowered halter, sitting in the same position on the same green couch with the same red pillow, with the same predator in a rumpled ill-fitting shirt sitting across from her, in the same beige chair, in front of the same table lamp, the same floor lamp, the same end tables, the same curtains, giving the same ‘Aren’t I just so harmless? I’m just trying to help.’ Smirk, all shot with nearly identical camera angles (just adjusted slightly for adult Sookie’s height).

Every once in a while I feel the need to reblog this.
Today is one of those days.

Always worth a reblog, because YES.

Great parallel :)

“I’m trusting you Eric.”

She may not always realize it, but she can always trust him.

My thoughts exactly- I remember when he first told her “I would never betray you”, it put red flags up for all of us. Nothing to do with Eric, but in this show, people don’t come out with words like “never” unless they’re going to be flipped around in the future. I think if he was going to betray her though, he would’ve done it by now…

Maybe this was foreshadowing Jessica’s efforts to convince Sookie that Eric had gone dark side? Sookie saw so little of Eric in season 5, and she had so many reasons to believe that he had betrayed her (not personally, but I’m counting supporting efforts to whipe out her “abominable” race as a betrayal *cough cough BILL cough*). But when it came down to it, he never even wavered in keeping his promise after all. She didn’t even need to remind him in person like she feared in the scene above- his memory of her was enough (“What about Sookie?”)

Reason #4,532 to love this man- not that anyone’s counting :)

It was total misdirection, and you’re right, when it really counted, he did not waver. He had his moment in the very first episode when he was so full of anger and pain, but when Sookie was truly in danger from a villain she was no match for, he was there.

Also, I think you make an interesting point about Jessica and her warning about Bill and Eric. She really sets up Sookie to think she’s been betrayed, but I question whether or not Sookie actually believes it, from either Bill or Eric, especially the way she seemed to seek reassurance from Eric in the few moments they were together.

I love everyone in this bar! :)

I totally agree with everyone that as foreshadowing goes, “I won’t betray you, ever” was a bit of a mallet over the head — a bit too much of one for True Blood to use it straightforwardly to reverse 5 years of carefully developing a character who just keeps getting more heroic, but I think whatever it is that might make Sookie believe she is being betrayed is yet to come.

My money is totally on his never betraying her, but for that line to bear fruit, the perceived betrayal needs to hurt more than his ignoring her and then being trapped and unable to help her all season. Sookie just didn’t know where he was, and when he did show up, she always looked to him for reassurance and comfort, and always knew he was on her side, even if he was walling off his heart… and she was right: when she truly needed him, he was there.

He’s not going to betray her, I agree — but I think the proof of that is ongoing, and that in the future, there will be something sharper and more distressing to make us think he might.
